Oil
and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has rolled out its e-procurement
initiative for its global vendor community, a first-of-its-kind initiative
in India.
To participate in the e-tendering process, every vendor is required to use a Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate from a Certifying Authority (CA) in India licensed by the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) under the Indian IT Act 2000. SafeScrypt, an affiliate of VeriSign (Nasdaq: VRSN) in India , is India’s first Licensed Certifying Authority.
It is SafeScrypt's privilege to be associated with ONGC in this prestigious initiative - both as the PKI technology enabler of ONGC’s e-procurement application as well as a provider of legally valid Digital Signature Certificates to ONGC employees and vendors.
The participating vendor would use these digital signature certificates to digitally sign documents (such as Price Bid and Unpriced Technical Bids) and submit them online to ONGC as responses to the tenders published online.
